June Social Media Updates
If you’ve been wondering how you can increase engagement on LinkedIn and Instagram, June’s social media updates are here to solve your problems. Keep reading to see what changes LinkedIn and Instagram added to their platforms in June.
LinkedIn Updates Their Algorithm
You asked, LinkedIn listened. LinkedIn has updated their algorithm after reading complaint after complaint from their users: it seemed high profile LinkedIn users got all the engagement, while their posts struggled to get a reaction. Here’s what has changed — content creators will be rewarded with engagement if their content is optimized to add value. LinkedIn determines value as content that provides value to the user, user’s connections, and the creator of the post. It’s a trickle-down effect! So, if you’re looking to increase engagement on your profile, consider sharing content that encourages a conversation, and remember to use relevant hashtags (no more than 3 per post). Here’s an example: Share a blog that shares a market update and ask your followers if they agree with the publication, and why or why not.
Instagram Brings Ads to the Explore Page
Did you know that more than 200 million people look at the Explore page everyday to view what’s trending? With this in mind, Instagram has decided to update their user’s ad experience: ads are rolling out to the Explore page. Here’s how it works: When a user begins their session in the Explore page, they open up a picture or video, and continue to scroll. After a few posts, Instagram peppers in a relevant ad that is similar to the posts the user has been engaging with. Cool, right? Let’s say that someone’s Explore page is real estate centric. After scrolling through a couple of posts about houses for sale, interior design tips, and Gary Vee videos, BOOM! Your ad for your listing or your real estate tip video is pushed right to them! This is a great opportunity for you Realtors out there playing with Instagram ads. Just make sure to select the “Explore” tab in the Instagram section of the Ad Placements category.
